Proud Team Sponsor for Action 4 Smiles

The team of Action 4 Smiles has helped to raise money for The Alan Shearer Foundation. The Alan Shearer Foundation was originally founded in May of 2012 by the former footballing captain, Alan Shearer, helping to mark 5 years of his commitment and continuing contribution to helping adults and children with disabilities. The purpose of the foundation is to raise at least £250,000 each year to help benefit thousands of those with disabilities throughout the North East.

Daniel Craig Residential had the honour of sponsoring Keith Harbottle and his cycling team for Action 4 Smiles. On Saturday, June 14, 2014, the team participated in a 24-hour bike ride through the metro centre. The aim was originally to ride from Newcastle all the way to Rio, roughly 6,000. They were able to finish with 6,808. By sponsoring a team, Daniel Craig Residential was able to raise over £8,000 to donate to the Alan Shearer Foundation.

With continuing contributions, the foundation can continue to offer free and subsidized breaks at the Alan Shearer Short Break Centre. Additionally, they can continue to support and develop the free facilities of the adjoining activity centre. Finally, yet importantly, they can continue to enable St. Cuthbert’s Care to expand the disability provision all across the North East.
